Family-owned, family-built —

Family Restaurant in Meridian, Idaho

A real family-owned diner since 1943. Kid-friendly. High chairs, booster seats, kids' menu, crayons. Open every day 7am to 2pm.

The Capri Meridian is a family restaurant in the truest sense — family-owned for over 80 years, family-built for kids of every age, and the kind of place where Meridian families have been making weekend memories for three generations. Booths, counter stools, big windows, the smell of bacon, the sound of forks on plates. The good stuff.

What kids actually order

The pancake-and-bacon combo is the all-time winner. French toast sticks are a close second — easy to dip, easy to share. Older kids go for the build-your-own omelette or a grilled cheese with hash browns. The kids' menu is short on purpose: six options, all under $9, all real food cooked the same way as the adult menu.

Why generations of Meridian families come here

The Capri opened in 1943. There are people who came in with their parents when they were five who now bring their own grandkids in. Same booths, same recipes. We hear the same story a few times a month: "I used to come here with my grandma." That's the goal.

It's not a quiet restaurant. It's a happy one. Kids don't stand out. Conversations are easy. Servers know how to read a table — quick refills, a smile for a tantrum, a free pancake on a birthday. The kitchen is right behind the counter; if your kid wants to watch eggs being cracked, sit at the counter and they'll get a show.

Best times to bring kids

Weekday mornings are the calmest stretch — open at 7, slow until about 9. Weekends 8am to 9am is the second-quietest window. Saturday and Sunday 9–11am is the busiest; expect a short wait. We hold tables for parties of 3+ on weekends, so call ahead at (208) 957-6308 if you're rolling deep.

Birthdays & special occasions

Tell your server if it's a kid's birthday — we'll do a candle and a small treat. For bigger gatherings (8+ people) call a day or two ahead. We can set aside the big back table. We don't take formal reservations, but we'll always try.
